Linkova vs Serpzilla: Why We Put the Market Price Next to Ours
Serpzilla is one of the oldest, largest self-serve link marketplaces out there — prices are shown per site upfront, and for plenty of buyers that's exactly enough. This is an honest look at where Linkova works differently, and where Serpzilla is still the better call.

Let's start by being fair to Serpzilla, because a lot of comparison posts aren't. It's a real self-serve marketplace, running since around 2007, with per-site prices visible before you buy, pay-per-placement, no subscription and no platform commission on top. You can browse, filter, and check out yourself — roughly 90% of orders are auto-fulfilled. None of that is in dispute. So this isn't a piece about a competitor 'hiding' anything. It's about one specific thing Serpzilla's listings don't give you, and a few tools we built that it doesn't have.
The core difference: a price, or a price plus a benchmark
On Serpzilla, each placement carries a listed price. It's shown upfront, which is good — you know the number before you commit. What a single number can't tell you is whether that number is fair. On Linkova, every row shows the per-placement price and, right next to it, the tracked market median pulled from 50+ other marketplaces. Same idea as Serpzilla's transparent pricing, one extra column: you see whether a listing is cheap, fair, or steep before you spend a cent. As far as we can find, Serpzilla shows the price but no market-median benchmark — and that benchmark is the whole reason Linkova exists.
That column isn't decoration. Across the catalogue, 168,000+ listings (about 72%) sit below the tracked market median. On listings priced over $100, the average saving against the median is $112 — the median there being $165. The typical Linkova placement is $124; 88,654 listings come in under $100, with the cheapest genuine listing at $30. You don't have to trust those averages — the comparison is printed on every row, so you can check the claim listing by listing.
What Linkova adds on top of a transparent marketplace
- The tracked market median from 50+ marketplaces, printed next to Linkova's price on every row — the one thing we couldn't find on Serpzilla
- Metrics from four providers — Ahrefs, Moz, Majestic and DataForSEO — on every listing (Serpzilla runs Ahrefs, Moz, Majestic and its own Serpzilla Rank, but no DataForSEO that we could find)
- 225,000+ publishers across 152 countries, filterable by Domain Rating band — larger than Serpzilla's reported 140,000–170,000 sites
- Scout AI: describe your target in a brief and it finds matching publishers — we couldn't find a brief-based discovery tool on Serpzilla
- Linkprofile: weekly monitoring of your own backlinks, plus an inbuilt content-writing module (Serpzilla has no AI writer we could find; you write it yourself or pay the publisher)
- Pay-per-placement, no subscription; a 1.9% service fee; agencies get a separate project per client. First order 5% off with code FIRST5 on orders over $300

Where Serpzilla is genuinely the better call
A few things Serpzilla does that we don't, and won't pretend otherwise. It rents links monthly — from around $1/mo on lower-DR sites — as well as selling them outright, which no permanent-only marketplace can match if a rented model suits your strategy. Its low tiers are very cheap: guest posts start around $5, though note that Serpzilla's own pricing page also quotes higher averages (guest post $459, link insertion $225), so read both the floor and the average before you budget. It has a long track record, a proprietary machine-learning Serpzilla Rank score, and a Backlink Gap Analyzer that plugs straight into the marketplace so you can buy the gaps you find. Our LinkRadar covers similar ground and we think its gap scoring is clearer, but Serpzilla's tool is a real, close analogue — not something we invented an absence for.
So if you want monthly-rented links, the cheapest possible entry tiers, or you already run campaigns through Serpzilla's dashboard and your reporting is built around it, that's a fair reason to stay. Linkova's benchmark-and-verify approach adds a step you may not need.
